KS1 and KS2 Curriculum

Year 1 to Year 6 follow the National Curriculum.

Revised programmes of study were introduced in September 2014. The pitch and expectations of this revised National Curriculum are higher than those found in the old National Curriculum.

You can access the National Curriculum programmes of study we follow at The Friars Primary School on the Department for Education website.

At The Friars Primary School, classroom teachers deliver the programmes of study in the National Curriculum. In English and Mathematics, content is introduced at particular points in the academic year and revisited to ensure children have solid skills, knowledge and understanding. As a result, parents and carers may wish to talk with their child's teacher about the precise content being taught in a half-term.

In Key Stage 1, our phonics scheme is Read Write Inc.

At Key Stage 1 and 2, we use Read Write Inc to support the teaching and learning of spelling.
