Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Everyone who works with children - including teachers, GPs, nurses and midwives, health visitors, early years professionals. youth workers, A&E, paediatricians, voluntary and community workers and social workers - has responsibility for keeping them safe.
Schools must have regard for statutory guidance. The Department for Education (September 2016) has published Keeping Children Safe in Education: Statutory guidance for schools and colleges. It provides details on how schools should fulfil their duties of safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people in their care.
